I spent a few relaxing days by the Hallstätter See, staying in Obertraun and heading up into Dachstein Krippenstein.

Uncooperative schedules and living outside London meant a four flight round trip to Malta – involving four different airlines and four different countries!

A pile of bonus avios gave me an excuse for one last trip abroad – returning to Malta for a dose of winter sun and a nostalgic wander around some favourite spots.

We spent much of our time in Portland hiding from the heat in our hotel room; thanks to a remarkable upgrade, we had a lot of room to hide in.

With plenty of time to explore Seattle – twice – during this holiday, we were able to appreciate a few different neighbourhoods that offered a more relaxed pace than the city centre – and even a taste of local life.

The EURO conference series lead me to Valencia, Spain, where despite a busy schedule of talks and unforgiving heat I was able to fit in a bit of sightseeing.
