A few views of – and from – the world’s tallest building.

Photos from my explorations by train and tram.

Snaps during a week exploring Tuscany with friends, from big city sights to peaceful countryside.

Highlights from a walking tour of Salzburg, and a visit to the fortress.

Photos from a winter visit to Malta: Valletta, Mdina, the three cities and around golden bay.

Photos from our October adventures- mostly in the Netherlands, but with detours into Germany and Belgium too.

Collecting together most of the photos from our time in Seattle – including some from general wandering not covered in other posts.

A visit to Seattle’s Museum of Flight not only ticked another Concorde off my list, but gave me a chance to hear about something even faster, thanks to a talk by SR-71 pilot Brian Shul.

To get to Portland, Eugene and back to Seattle we used both of Amtrak’s rail services in the area: the Coast Starlight and Cascades.

Our visit to Eugene coincided with the downtown visual arts festival, which included the addition of fresh murals to the 20×21 project. We set out to find some of those, plus other pieces of street art around the city.

Discovering some of Oregon’s beautiful scenery by guided tour.

Adding to Valencia’s architectural charms, an impressive array of street art.

Although I was visiting Valencia for mathematical reasons, it turned out to be an architectural photography playground.

Mostly architectural shots, but a smattering of street art too from our most recent visit.

Testing out a new camera in the winter sun.

A hotel voucher to burn, a new camera to test out, and a quirk of BA’s scheduling combined to send me to Madrid – where I was happy to find that this unfamiliar city was an architectural delight, soaking in winter sunshine.

Mt Etna in three courses: a gentle stroll around the Silvestri craters; a more demanding hike up from the cable car station; and paddling in the refreshing waters of the Alcantara gorge.

Having completed our long trip to Sicily, we spent most of our visit in the pretty cliff-top town of Taormina.

Photos from a trip back in time.
