Radisson Blu Berlin

I’d not used a Radisson before – nor any Carlson property that I can think of – so don’t have a baseline for the brand. I also rarely stay at places that command the same rack rate in other chains. But this property thoroughly impressed! Location wise it seems ideal for a first visit to berlin, with both idiot-proof transport links and a bunch of attractions on the doorstep. My room was described as having a good view of the Cathedral, from which I conclude that the Germans are masters of understatement:

The room was spacious, staff just the right level of attentive, and public spaces – under the glow of that fish tank – great places to settle in with a book or something from the bar. A discount for the AquaDom is available, which in theory also gets you to the front of the Sea Life Center queue too – although with typical German efficiency, there was no line when I visted. I also gave the restaurant – HEat – a try for dinner, which whilst nothing spectacular was decent for the price.

Here’s a few shots of the room itself:

Only drawbacks I found were the usuals for large hotels: an outrageously priced breakfast buffet, and a woefully under equipped gym (although the broader spa / pool offering seemed substantial). Oh, and I’m still wondering how anyone makes immediate use of the unusual gift – two small jars of honey!

Welcome... honey?
