Roman Murmuration

Often the best moments of travel are unplanned. By pure chance, we found ourselves at the steps of the Basilica where we could enjoy the sunset at the end of a day’s undirected wandering. With unexpectedly warm and clear weather for November this would have been a treat itself, but Rome had an extra layer to add. As the sun sank, so thousands of starlings poured into the city centre to settle in for the night. But as they found their spots they filled the skies in rolling waves, moving seemingly as one fluid organism. My pictures and video can only hint at the experience, but as it is one that will stick with us for a long time, I thought I would share them anyway.
