Taking stock at the end of a five year streak of flying only business class for longhaul – without paying!

Four Nights in… New York

A work trip for a conference in Times Square gave me the chance at a longer visit to New York, which I split across two hotels and a variety of attractions. I also got to add an iconic BA experience to my list: flying Club World on the upper deck of a 747.
The Mystery Trip

I’ve always wanted to head over to an airport, pick a destination, then fly. Thanks to staff standby travel, I was able to give it a try!
Two Nights in… Oslo

Despairing of the lack of a proper winter in the UK, I took a weekend in Oslo in search of snow.
My North American Travel Bucketlist Tour 2015

An overview and links to coverage of my trip to New York, Vancouver, Seattle and Los Angeles via a mix of international business class flights and long distance trains.
The British Airways 737 Farewell Flight

I was lucky enough to get a last minute seat on the last passenger flight of G-DOCW, a staff-only low level sightseeing flight around the south coast of England.
BA1 London to New York

Sampling BA’s ‘baby bus’: a 32 seat business-only A318 from London City to New York JFK (via Shannon).
Two Nights In… Berlin

An end-of-week jaunt to Germany’s capital, to check out some architectural curiosities.
Trip Report: The big win, big science, and a big storm: London, Geneva and Edinburgh with BA/IHG

Full report on my 2013Q4 project: chasing IHG’s Big Win promotion. I battled the St Jude storm in the UK; discovered CERN and Geneva with Marian Call and fellow fans; flew LCY-EDI-LHR-GVA-LHR-EDI on BA (enjoying the lounges along the way) and, of course, sampled four different IHG properties to meet all my challenges.
Trip Report: A Californian status run – LHR/SAN/LAX/SFO, and half a dozen hotels.

In-depth report of my push for HHonors Gold and BA Silver, starting 2013 by hotel-hopping and tier-point running around California. Covers first class train travel in the UK, BA longhaul in premium economy and business, AA domestic first class in the US, various Hiltons, and sightseeing in three cities.
Trip Report: The FT Advantage – The Bentley London Waldorf Astoria Collection, LHR-GIB in BA Club

My luxury-holiday-on-a-budget: a 5* London hotel (my first HHonors redemption), business class flights (from the sale), and a boat (cheaper than Gibraltan hotels!) in the Med in June. All wonderful, until weather conditions put my plane home in an entirely different country…
Planespotting at GIB

Europe’s ‘most dangerous airport’- the runway at Gibraltar extends out into the sea; is bordered to the south by the Rock, which generates difficult wind conditions; and then there’s a road across the runway to the Spanish border! However, this does mean you can get really close for some planespotting, so that’s exactly what I did.
Trip Report: One Seat, two classes: BA LGW to FCO in ET and CE (first taste of club!)

Flyertalk report of my trip to Assisi: standard class rail in the UK, economy and business flights between London and Rome, the BA lounge at FCO, and first class rail travel in Italy.
